Lies! Lies! Lies!

So apparently I was just mouthing off about not buying yarn. Because I seriously fell of the wagon. On my way to my house are, er....my very first order from knitpicks, and some laceweight from Blackberry Ridge farm, for Ene's scarf from Scarf Style. Yeah. Restraint? No, don't know that one. sigh.

There's been knitting around here, although it's all mostly the same. But I wanted to show some pattern books I picked up while thrifting--a quarter each! Gotta love that.

The photos and models are pretty funny, but the knits are actually quite sophisticated looking in their simplicity and their shaping. I mentioned to a friend of mine who teaches knitting that I had picked up these books, and she said, "Grab them when you can! Those styles are coming back around!" and they are! Well, at least the shaping. I like fitted sweaters, and these look like they would be relatively easy to make.

(I like the sweater on the woman; my boyfriend would have a conniption if I tried to make him wear something like the one the man is wearing.)

Super flattering neckline. The hair...not so much.

Basic raglan, but I like the length and it looks like it would be super quick to knit.

For all of seventy five cents, I think I scored. BTW, since I"m actually finishing this post later than when I started (blogger problems.) I got my Knit Picks order! Okay, I'm a convert. Looooove them. I now have a mad urge to order more from them, and often, until my entire stash is made of all the Knit Picks I want...god, I'm a sucker for low prices. and they feel so yummy. grrr. must work more. And speaking of that, since I have been working at home a bunch more, my house is TRASHED. seriously trashed. and I have no time to clean. I need a Mary Poppins to come, wave around her umbrella, and magically put things in their place.

Not enough hours in the day

Sigh. There are just not enough hours in the day. I am so busy and I need to figure out how to organise my time. I am not very organised. I've been spinning a ton, but it's for pay, and not for me. Still, it's cool, and my spinning skills are growing in leaps and bounds.

However, I have been knitting, a little bit here and there, mostly when I'm at J's and we veg and watch t.v. Love that.

A sock in Lana Grossa something. It's cool, but I am just not digging on it for some reason. However, I will finish the pair, because I am stubborn like that.

A clapotis in Koigu, on size 3 needles. I am in mad, mad love with this colour: blacks and browns and slight pinks and peaches...ah. I love it. It is not a fast knit, though, and I want to wear it already! I keep looking at it and admiring it.

So I have decided to go on a yarn diet. I actually don't buy all that much yarn, and my stash is not nearly as big as some I've seen; it mostly all fits into the top two shelves of a china closet. But I have enough yarn for about five sweaters and maybe eight pairs of socks, and I want to halve my stash before Stitches West.
