Making my way

--through various knits, that is! I badly want to cast on for some of the things I've been swatching for, but I'm trying to finish up the little things I"ve got going, like my clapotis (although, knit with six or seven skeins of koigu on a size 3 needle, it's not quite so little), socks, etc. I've started some knee highs:

knit with Yarntini's sport weight yarn in the "Luxury" colourway, bought a while ago from Pure Knits. They're sold out, but I'm hoping the few skeins I placed a special order for will turn up soon! I loooovve this yarn. Squishy, and great colour. Obviously, they are an homage to expensive Burberry items and will be worn with a brown corduroy skirt and loafers.

And, because I needed to jump on the band wagon, a Le Slouch from Wendy over at Knit and Tonic:

Something went a little awry when decreasing and so I have some, er, mounds at the crown, but I like it. Next time I make one, I think I will do a little less slouch. I have less neck than I like to imagine. And no, I don't always look so ghostly, but I'm extremely fair skinned in the winter, and I've got the lights on on our makeshift photo booth here at work. Without the lights, the poor camera strains.

There's also a bunch of new stuff up at the shop so please take a look! I've started dyeing up some incredible 50/50 silk/meino laceweight yarn, and selling them pre wound into center pull cakes of 500 yards apiece:

colourway "Elvish"

and just put in three new braids of merino/tussah silk roving. I adore this stuff, and have a hard time putting it up for sale. I could sleep in this stuff.

"Drift"

"Amelia"

"Bohemia".

I'm slowly starting to take notes, so the top two rovings, "Drift" and "Amelia" are repeatable colourways. "Bohemia" is not--but I like it, so I'll have to try to reproduce it.

wrong number

Dear whoever keeps calling my cell phone asking for "Raniqua" or some similar name, I can assure you that there is no "Raniqua" here. Even if you leave seven messages while I am out of town asking for "Raniqua" to call you back, there is still no "Raniqua" at this number. No, I am not hiding her. I have no idea who she is, but if she knows you, I am beginning to understand why she apparently left you no new number. I am also beginning to seriously wonder whether you have lost your short term memory, as there has been no "Raniqua" at this number for going on two years now. Yes, this is the phone number you dialed. It is the same phone number you have dialed for the past two years. There is no "Raniqua" here. Now please stop calling this fucking number!

On the knitting horizon, I have started a sock. Hopefully there will be a pair, which is looking less and less likely to happen with my cascade fixation socks that have not been posted on this blog. One and a half fixation socks have been made, and are not likely to be finished, as every time I pick up the second sock, I am filled with complete loathing for this yarn. It is too thick. It is too stretchy. The variations which made fetching stripes on the foot go into psychedelic pooling up the leg. I am not a fan of pooling. In short...I hate this yarn. And now I hate the socks. But this, on the other hand, ahhh, this:
This is nice. Koigu. mmmm....

I also just got in my issue of Rowan Studio Issue One, which I looove. There are some seriously cool things in there. I've already started swatching.

The first one I think I might substitute some cascade 220 for that I have in my stash; the second one I've started swatching with some Elizabeth Lavold Silky Tweed.

There are also some new rovings in my Etsy store, so check them out!
"Guinevere" roving

and "Breach"
