EZ comes to the rescue!

This year seems to be all about sweaters for me, so far. This is due to a need for more sweaters in my wardrobe, and my increasingly growing sweater stash. Plus, I like knitting them. So, you may ask, where is my February Lady Sweater? Well....it has been having several dates with my ball winder.

I loved knitting it; loved the yarn, loved the pattern, and it was pretty quick. However, when I finished it....it was too damn big. Way too big. No matter how much I tried to convince myself that it could work...it just couldn't. Wildly unflattering would be an understatement. So, off to the ball winder it went, since the yarn is beautiful. (and very expensive.) It's already being knit up into a new sweater.

A panacea was needed. I had ordered a fair amount of merino roving from Funky Carolina, and had spun it up intending it for a sweater--- it decided to be an Elizabeth Zimmerman sweater. I'd been wanting to make another EZ sweater for a while, since the last one, while pretty, is really a little too short. So this time I measured a favourite long-sleeved t-shirt that had the desired measurements, and used that for the calculations. I had originally intended a raglan, but the round-yoke style seemed to fit better with the stripiness of the yarn.

I like it. It's warm, which was what I wanted, it fits well (although next time I might add a little more ease, as it is very form fitting and only a thin t-shirt really works underneath), and I'm way happier with the colours that I originally thought I would be. Not that the roving wasn't gorgeous; it's just that as I was spinning them, I was a little iffy as to how the colours would work for me.

It was a definite boost to my knitting ego that I needed, after knitting an entire sweater that was too big. Plus, it was fast. at around 4 stitches to the inch on size 8 needles, this sweater went at lightning speed. Yay!

On another note--- I'll be selling at Stitches West! I'll be sharing a booth, and will be in booth #637. If I don't have a severe melt down before then, with all the stuff I need to do, I'll be seeing as many of you that come! I'm thrilled, but also nervous--- will I have enough stuff? Will people buy it? Will I survive three and a half days of being "on"? (I'm a little more excited than I should be about the proximity of the convention hotel bar to the marketplace.)

And I'll definitely come see you at Stitches. Maybe we can sneak out for a drink - or maybe I'll get crafty and sneak you in one. What's your poison?

It looks FABULOUS. And if your Etsy shop is any indication of how you'll do, plan on selling out. Good luck!

BEAUTIFUL! I've never spun yarn for a project as big as a sweater, but you've inspired me to give it a go eventually! And I LOVE Funky Carolina roving - I have a metric ton of the stuff...a wonderful way to showcase gorgeous roving turned into gorgeous yarn!
